Tuffo Caves

Santarcangelo is characterized by a real underground and mysterious world made up of caves, barns, glaciers and secret escape routes. Walking through the streets of the ancient village, the visitor is projected in a distant time where the population lived protected inside the city wall. The country's life in the Middle Ages was enclosed in a casket inside the walls and the population had to work to ensure their survival (sometimes the sieges lasted for a few months). Thus, an imposing underground reality was created under the visible one, suitable for the preservation of wine, the perishable food and to conceal cereals.
