Forlì Railway Station
The new complex (1924 - 1925) designed by the engineer Ezio Bianchi consists of the passenger building, the freight yard and the warehouse area. The passenger building was, and still is, structured on three levels, repeating the layout of the Verona P.N. station. and Milan: the distribution system of the ground floor has the central role of the entrance hall, which distributes all the functions and occupies with its volume the overlying space of the first floor; the second level is projected on the iron level and contains all the functional part dedicated to the traveler; the third level targets railway staff accommodation. The long extension of the façade (78 mt) is modulated by highlighting the central part and the end parts with light advances that allow a courtly partition, underlined by the alternating use of materials: the stucco plaster, to simulate the fake stone of the basement that contains the first two floors, contrasts with the cooked rosé of the local kilns applied to the third level. In the square of access to the passenger building, a large circular tank (now removed) was built on the indication of C. Bazzani, where the ornamental water jet came out from a sculpture made up of fascist weapons.
