Focaraccio di San Giuseppe

The tourist association Pro Loco of Casacastalda recalls the traditional "Focaraccio di San Giuseppe" which consists in the creation of huge sheaves of tufts, branches and leaves to which flames are set as a sign of devotion. The whole community is entertained around the focaraccio until its extinction, spending time between songs, dances, libations and small banquets. It is a tradition that every defendant in the focaccaccio brings as a gift to other drinks and dishes. The realization of the focaraccio requires about twenty days of preparation as the organizing group must go to the fields to collect wood and bushes necessary to make the big votive sheaf.
