Wicker processing
Following the road to Viaio, in the direction of the Tiber, you will certainly notice a country school located along the road in the middle of the cultivated fields. Here the family Luzzi continues since 1873 a centuries-old tradition providing the processing of wicker harvested along the river, creating a production of objects intended for a market extended far beyond the town of Anghiari. When the stalks are dried, the work of these baskets begins, starting from the intertwined ribs that baste the base to proceed with the weaving until the final border (the top edge). The wicker collection takes place in February, then is soaked for about two months and then peeled. Once dried, it is tied up waiting for the skilled hands of the artisans to model it, giving life to beautiful baskets.
