Renzi Museum and Library Moral Body

The Renzi Museum and Library is located in Via Matteotti no. 27 in the so-called east gate of the Malatesta castle, where it was the residence of the ancient community of San Giovanni in Galilee. In the last decades, the building along the via Matteotti and the one in the upper part located along the Via S.Malatesta have been added to that structure, thus creating a single "communicating" complex and the object of recent restructuring and consolidation. This complex allows the display of the oldest materials referred to the human activity of our places and which date back to the Eneolotic civilization (of copper or stone) between the third and second millennium BC. and probably linked to the presence of a "nomadic" population of not too many units, dedicated above all to pastoralism. Other finds belong to the final bronze age, from the 13th to the 10th centuries BC and therefore also to the Iron Age (from the 8th to the 6th century BC) of protohistoric and historical civilizations. The sections therefore range from paleontological to prehistoric, Roman and medieval - modern. The founder of the institution was Don Francesco Renzi (1822-1895). In recent years, after the restoration of the museum complex, the archive documentation of the organization has been reorganized, as well as the preparation and re-establishment of the Museum's materials and collections. In 2010 the Renzi Museum was recognized by the Emilia Romagna Region as one of the "Quality Museums". Study conventions and historical and scientific publications are organized.
