Montepetra
Primary tabs
Montepetra
Guarding the small village of Montepetra rise the "Sassoni", sedimentary rocks composed of sand, gravel, debris and remains of fossil shells. The Church of San Lorenzo preserves two altarpieces by Nicola Versari from 1658, and a valuable baptismal font from 1495. The wash-house, today, constitutes a "place of memory" after years of neglect and decay was in fact recovered in 2006. Currently it is a reference point for short stops for cyclists in search of suggestive naturalistic scenarios. The town of Romagnano is a place of pilgrimage as an ancient Mistedia testifies to the apparition of the Madonna. Montepetra and Barbotto are today a reference point for cyclists looking for suggestive naturalistic landscapes.
