Complex of the Roman Gallery - Church of the Blessed Virgin of the Furlo

On the ancient consular road Flaminia opens, at the Furlo Gorge, the tunnel of the Furlo, that is the Forulus, the small hole in the mountain stone. At first a narrow, prehistoric little hole, opened a splinter splinter, opened by the Flaminio consul in 217 a.c. or perhaps previously excavated. Then from the year 76 d.C., next to this forulus, the Roman gallery, almost forty meters long, dug into the heart of the rock at the behest of Emperor Vespasian at the narrowest point of the gorge. Adjacent to the Galleria del Furlo stands the small church of the Beata Vergine del Furlo, erected at the end of the fifteenth century.
