The museum of labours

Find out where you are from, to know who you are. A string of memories unites different realities of this territory, who have chosen to tell us about the past of the past by integrating it with life today.

The Church and Convent of San Francesco in Mercatello sul Metauro is a real museum of 14th century Giotto painting. At the time of our fathers, the painters from Rimini like Giovanni, Giuliano, Pietro, Baronzio left their best works in the Alta Valle del Metauro. At Mercatello, which is the casket of all the Marche for the painters of Rimini with their works on the table, they allow us to know the entire pictorial parable of these fascinating masters of the three hundred Italian. It is therefore possible to propose an itinerary with their painting, or with works derived from their language, from the Abbey of San Michele Arcangelo di Lamoli to Sant’Angelo in Vado, to the Cathedral of Urbania where you can admire the beautiful Crucifix of Peter from Rimini.

An integrated path in several museum experiences, thanks to which one is immersed in testimonies of our fathers' trades and life.

It begins by walking in the silence of the cloister of the Abbey of Lamoli in Borgo Pace where thanks to the Museum "Delio Bischi", the history of natural colours is traced back to just before the advent of synthetic colours. A sensory discovery, thanks also to the didactic laboratories in which one can try dyeing wool, silk and cotton.

From the colouring of fabrics and the production of perfumes to the woods and the days of charcoal, to an interactive museum which tells a story made of oral testimonies and historical and literary sources in Borgo Pace.

Charcaol and woodworking tools in addition to mountain farming, stone extraction and machining. At Ca 'Sacchia, there is a Permanent Exhibition Museum of Apennine Farming and Agricultural Tools. A condensed look at life of the Umbrian-Tuscan-Marche region.

At Isola del Piano, there is a museum that traces the labours of our fathers, one can see the tools from the past, from the shoemaker to the blacksmith, to the potter or to the stonecutter. One can never be disrespectful.

As well as in the Demo-anthropological Museum dedicated to"The Old Crafts" in Sant'Angelo in Vado there are reconstructions of artisan workshops.

In Urbania, however, the Museum of Agricultural and Crafts History, displays the work tools used for grain making activities, wine making and brewing

In Urbania, however, in the Palazzo Ducale after visiting the drawings for the ceramics of the old masters of the pottery shops on display in the noble floor of the Civic Museums and the collections of ceramics used that document the entire range of Italian regions, there is it can forward in the fascinating undergrounds of the Palazzo and the architectures of Francesco Di Giorgio Martini to visit the Museum of the History of Crafts and Agriculture that reproposes the working tools used in the cycles of wheat, vine and wine.

At Piandimeleto, one can visit the Farm Work Museum and the headquarters of the Municipality, in what once was a symbol of power and splendour, that is a magnificent example of a renaissance palace.  Palazzo Montefeltro, with its brilliant interior modelled on the court of Federico, the Duke of Urbino. The castle was once the residence of the Oliva family.

Another museum dedicated to labour can be found in Urbino which owns many artefacts used for printing, from original machines, accessories, tools and engravings.

In Tredozio, the opulent Palazzo Fantini which was built before the 1500's and restored in 1750, and today houses the Museum of Peasantry on the ground floor, with the tools from the past and carefully restored environments.

A journey into the valley to discover these museums thus becomes a journey in search of the most authentic roots of Italia.
