Villa La Barbolana
Primary tabs
Villa La Barbolana
Originally an elegant residence, situated in an excellent panoramic position on the south-eastern slopes of Montauto, it was built by Federigo di Antonio Barbolani in the second half of the 16th century. A rare example of a private fortified villa in the Arezzo area is a two-storey building with a square plan with four protruding angular bastions, a central tower and two accesses consisting of bridges over the moat that surrounded the building. Inside, the rooms are mostly covered with vaulted ceilings, terracotta floors and Renaissance stone portals.
