"Vero Stoppioni" Contemporary Art Gallery
The "Vero Stoppioni" Gallery of Contemporary Art was founded in 1990 in close relationship with the Campigna Prize and the spirit of its promoter Vero Stoppioni. Stoppioni's idea was to create an intimate relationship between artists and Santa Sofia, through the experimentation of "improvised" workshops on the spot. The various editions of the award (the first one is from 1955) have considerably increased the heritage of this museum, so much so as to represent a relevant reference point for the contemporary state of art from the 5th to the present day. The gallery is housed in a building of the early twentieth century and has a free-standing exhibition space with movable sheet panels. The most significant works on display are certainly those by Mattia Moreni (1920-1999). During the year the gallery hosts temporary exhibitions and exhibitions.
