Veggiani Collection
Since 2004, six splendid frescoed rooms of the Palazzo della Cultura host the entire documentary heritage of Eng. Antonio Veggiani (1924-1996), renowned scholar and researcher, native of Mercato Saraceno. The collection consists essentially of material of geological-historical interest concerning Romagna and Montefeltro, with particular reference to the territories of the valleys of the rivers Savio, Uso and Rubicone. The documentary section contains manuscripts, and extracts of scientific nature, archeology, astronomy and photographic material. The mineralogical section includes numerous fossil and mining finds, including a precious amber ovoid of 625 gr. recovered from Veggiani near Campaolo, Sogliano al Rubicone; it is one of the largest ambers existing in Europe.
