Sulfur Historical Mining Museum

Sulfur, the Historical Mining Museum of Perticara, is one of the first significant examples of Italian industrial archeology. Former Cantiere Solfureo Certino since 2002 hosts modern and fascinating museum spaces, while outside the museum the original Vittoria well still dominates the landscape on Perticara as an ancient symbol of the town's connection with the immense underground city. The former power plant, the compressor room, the lamps (the room where the lamps and flammable materials were kept) and the workshops have today left room for an evocative and fascinating museum itinerary that explores the themes of mineralogy and geology, placing particular attention to centuries of mining activity held in Perticara.
