Source of San Francesco

Small spring source, the Legend wants that "the Jester of God", during his pilgrimage, has granted the honor of walking on the soil of municipalities like Borgo Pace, Mercatello, Sant'Angelo, Lunano ... and, stopping in the hamlet of Figgiano , has placed the clenched fist on a stone sponge, giving birth to a spring.
Whether it is true or not, we do not know, but it is certain that for eight hundred years that source continues, perhaps in alternating periods, to bring water to Figgiano.
In addition, Figgiano water has purifying properties for the skin, perhaps because the calcium, typical of the waters of the area, stops on the sponge stone that decalcifies this water, like a small miracle of St. Francis of Assisi.
