Sanctuary of the Blessed Virgin of Suasia

Built thanks to the almsgiving collected among the inhabitants of the place, it is the expression of the will of the civilians who wanted to erect it to remember the miraculous apparition of the Blessed Virgin to a poor orphan, Pasquino da Vignale, that happened 5 times, from 1 to 29 April 1556, near an existing cell near the Suasia stream from 1442. The construction began on 27 July 1556, with the laying of the first stone by the Vicar of the Abbey of S. Ellero, Monsignor Cristoforo Agatense da Montalto. The building is a significant Tuscan Renaissance architectural creation, altered by numerous renovations. Inside: Blessed Virgin of Suasia, fresco, by an unknown artist, of a Tuscan school dating back to the fifteenth century; Christ on the cross with St. John, Magdalene and St. Luke, oil on canvas, attributed to Bagnacavallo the Younger, beginning of the seventeenth century; Madonna and Child with Saints Barbara, Andrea and Lorenzo, oil on canvas, by an unknown artist from the Bolognese school, from the beginning of the 17th century; Madonna and Child among Angels musicians, oil on canvas, late Venetian, first half of the seventeenth century, signed "Hier Veron", Girolamo Veronese.
