The ravelin (popularly "Trióne"), an advanced body compared to the entrance door to the castle of Costacciaro which opened to the south, is a formidable defensive bastion with a unique bow-shaped shape, designed and built at the end of the 15th century on commission of the Duke of Urbino Federico da Montefeltro, by the well-known architect Francesco di Giorgio Martini of Siena, to whom we owe the fortresses of Mondavio, Sassocorvaro, San Leo, the ducal palace of Gubbio, probably the renovation of the building that at Costacciaro was at the time property of the same Duke and other important military and civil architectural works. From the ravelin you can enjoy an exceptional view both towards the Monte Cucco massif and towards the Chiascio valley. The internal area is also used for shows and equipped with stands for the public.
