Pieve Complex and San Cassiano Cemetery

The parish church is part of the cemetery complex of S. Cassiano, interested in enlargements and rebuilding in the early 1930s. The first citations relating to the pieve date back to 1001, but popular tradition has it that the religious complex arose in the 5th century AD. by the will of Galla Placidia, daughter of Emperor Theodosius who led the Roman Empire of Ravenna from Ravenna. Over the years it was the subject of reconstruction, the last of which (from 1930 to 1934), gave back to the church the Romanesque profile, with a stylistic reconstruction curated by the architects Icchia and Corsini.
