Parish Church of San Donato di Polenta

The construction of the Pieve dates back to the VIII century, by the Longobards. The style of the capitals, the work of local stonemasons, presents notable affinities with contemporary works in Bobbio and Cividale del Friuli.

Structured on a plan with three naves, the Pieve has been the subject of several restorations; the most famous was the one promoted in 1897 by Giosuè Carducci, who on that occasion wrote the Ode to the Church of Polenta in which he recalled that Dante prayed in this parish during his exile.

Also interesting is its churchyard where the coats of arms of the municipalities that participated in the traditional Rally in honor of Carducci stand out.
