Medici Fortress

The Sansepolcro Fortress, also known as the Medici Fortress, is a military construction built in Sansepolcro by Giuliano da Sangallo for the Medici's will at the beginning of the sixteenth century. It has 4 struts, that of the Belvedere, which is the largest of all; that of Santa Maria, inside the city; and those of San Casciano and San Leo on the opposite side. Perhaps the most fascinating of all is that of Santa Maria, because it is the largest and is what looks towards the city. The inner courtyard is very pretty and has a very deep well. Currently it is a private property of a local family.
