Church of San Domenico

The origins of the Church and of the same Dominican religious community are somewhat uncertain, but it should fall shortly after the founding of the Order of the Preaching Fathers (1209).
The façade is now dominated by the travertine, the documented work of the Florentine Maso di Bartolomeo, which provided the drawing but was used by the collaboration of two Tuscan sculptors (1449-1454).
The ceramic terracotta group on a blue background executed by Luca della Robbia and placed in 1454 by Pasquino depicts the Madonna with the Child and Santi Domenico, Thomas Aquinas, Alberto Magno and Pietro Martire. In 1713 Pope Clement XI initiated the total renewal of the interior of the church which ended later in 1729-32 thanks to the new Pope Benedict XIII and Cardinal Annibale Albani himself.
