Borgo San Rocco

From Piazza Malatesta you take the once the Malatesta gate of the castle of Penna, and you arrive at the suggestive "Borgo San Rocco" street, at the beginning of which you can admire an elegant and precious Renaissance loggia on whose lintel is mentioned the Lordship of the Dukes of Montefeltro, which served as an entrance to the convent of the Augustinians and probably as access to the original chapel of the Sanctuary of the Madonna delle Grazie. There is a copy of the "Madonna del Parto" by Piero della Francesca, used in the '70s in some scenes of the film with Alain Delon "The first night of quiet", shot in the Romanesque Pieve of Ponte Messa (the original fresco is located in Monterchi - AR). From the loggia there is a walkway which, flanking the Mariano sanctuary, leads back to Piazza Malatesta. The Porta Malatesta preserves the emblem of Federico d'Urbino (1474) on its façade.
