Fratta of the nineteenth century - historical re-enactment in costume

The "Fratta dell'Ottocento", reached in 2016 the 15th edition, it has won with full merit a place of respect between the historical re-enactments in costume. Organized by the association of the same name, promoted by the Municipality of Umbertide, the Accademia dei Riuniti, the District Council n.4 and the Merchants Association of the Historic Center, it aims to remember the way of life of the time, referring to  historical documentation. Leaving space to the spectacular part, the historical reconstructions are very reliable, except perhaps some concession to the spectacularity with the wonderful costumes of the approximately 700 people who are at the party. The reliability of the sources means that the same menus of the many taverns, inns and taverns that operate within the Historic Center, provide strictly authentic recipes, also considering that many of these were in use until a few decades ago and others are still prepared by the Umbertidese families. The atmosphere of the kermis is truly engaging so much that the streets of the historic center revitalize to the sound of the fanfare engaged in the execution of Risorgimento marches and the squares and alleys echo the voices of the city choir, the music of quartets of arcs, of sound of the piano that accompanies opera and operetta songs performed by opera singers, when they are not crossed by the Risorgimento armies (garibaldini in the head) who go to the assault of the Rocca. The beauty of the event is all in the number of the figures that increase every year, a tangible sign of the pleasure of diving to the end in an atmosphere of other times. In the end, all to celebrate in the square a century that has changed the face of the city.
