"Giuseppe Verdi" Municipal Theater

At the beginning of the nineteenth century, when the municipal office was moved to the fortress, it was decided to allocate the hall of honor to the use of theater. With this purpose, work began in 1821 to transform the new hall and in 1830 the Municipal Theater named after Carlo Goldoni was finally inaugurated. Already a few decades after the arrangement, the room is inadequate to the needs of the "modern" stage representation and starting from 1878 the rehabilitation of the theater began; the architect bertinorese Giacomo Fabbri (1843 - 1905) is the architect.
At the beginning of the twentieth century, the theater was named after Giuseppe Verdi and later adapted to a room for film screenings; during these works the decorations of the Bacchetti are irretrievably lost. Even today the small theater of Forlimpopoli is unique in the vast panorama of structures related to the show, which arose in Romagna during the nineteenth century. Inside the hall a plaque, whose text was written by the poet Olindo Guerrini, recalls the famous raid by the band of the Passatore on the night of 25 January 1851.
