"Tobia Aldini" Archaeological Museum of Forlimpopoli (MAF)
Housed in the evocative rooms on the ground floor of the Rocca, the Museum preserves precious testimonies of local history. The six rooms are exposed, according to a chronological criterion and with thematic layouts, materials coming from fortuitous finds and from excavations carried out in the inhabited area and in the surrounding territory. Artifacts from the Lower Paleolithic period, artefacts from the Romanesque, Roman and medieval periods document the population and transformations since the most ancient times: a real journey through time that leads the visitor to the discovery of the city and, in particular, of Popili Forum , a flourishing center dedicated to commerce, founded by the Romans in the second century. B.C. which reached between the I and III century AD its maximum expansion. Established in 1961, the Archaeological Museum is named after the master Tobia Aldini who held the position of director from 1972 to 2003 and who was a tenacious advocate of historical studies on Forlimpopoli. Today the Museum presents itself in a completely new guise at the end of a demanding redevelopment and redevelopment project of the entire exhibition itinerary and with many cultural proposals.
