The kingdom of large white cows: the chianina, marchigiana and romagnola breeds
A special breed of the central Apennines. Centuries of breeding and use as a working animal, used by the Etruscans and Romans, one of the world's largest cattle, the Chianina has a white mantle. It is a sacred animal whose original testimonies are found in rock paintings.
The Marchigiana breed comes from a mix of cattle; It was created by mixing a large horned cow found in Italy as early as the 6th century AD. and a Chianina bull. The Romagna breed has origins that go back to the time of the invasions by the Lombards and their settlement in the Romagna territory.
All the breeds are queens of these territories and are farmed on grassland and marginal land.
The beef can be enjoyed in over twenty different cuts, including fillet, neck and belly. They are all red and succulent cuts of meat.
A special Consortium is responsible for protecting and promoting this extraordinary bovine heritage of the Central Apennines, which has also been awarded the IGP mark "Vitellone Bianco dell'Appennino Centrale", through information to the consumer and the general care of the interactions related to production PGI subject to specific regulations.
