A dance of colors

Intense reds, bright green, pale ocher and intense earthy colors that blend into palettes that touch the heart. It is a triumph of senses, a kaleidoscope of colors that awaits those who leave to discover the green heart of the Apennines.

A thousand colors and nuances, like those of the mosaics that embellish the ancient walls of Pesaro or Sant'Angelo in Vedo or of the dishes that cheer up lunches and dinners in this hidden corner of Italy.

They are the woods of the Apennines: less harsh and impressive than the alpine ones, but more welcoming and vital, with their great variety of colors and shades, all to be experienced, all to be discovered.

From the bright green of the Wild Fagus to the sier tones of the common Pear Tree, from the black of the elderberry to the milky tones of the willow, to the pale pink of the cherry and almond tree: the patriarch trees of the Sasso Simone and Simoncello Natural Park, between Marche and Emilia Romagna, already alone make up a polychrome painting of rare richness.

But just move a little further south, between Umbria and Marche, halfway between Fermignano and Acqualagna, and the show immediately changes. In the Gola del Furlo State Nature Reserve the painting of nature becomes contrasts, with the intense turquoise of the Furlo that cuts like a vein the gray-silver of the rocks and the emerald of the shrubs to peak, dotted here and there by the frothy white of a waterfall.

Deep colors as deep is the spirit of this Apennine, as you enter in his heart: on the meadows of the Park of Monte Cucco in spring is a polychrome triumph of daffodils, anemones, red lilies, bluebells and gentianelle.

While the reds and oranges of the ancient beech woods in the Park of the Casentinesi Forests, between the Valtiberina and the Romagna, have rightly earned the title of UNESCO World Heritage Site to the woods of Sasso Fratino.

And more: the wildest tones of the Apennine flora of the Catria and Nerone mountains and the milder ones of the Montebello Wildlife Protection Oasis, in Val Marecchia. Different natural rhythms for different soul agreements, to transform every walk through these woods into a silent dance of smells and colors.
