Palio of the Frog
The Palio della Rana is a historical re-enactment that takes place every year (on Sunday after Easter) for more than fifty years to remember the autonomy of Fermignano from the Duchy of Urbino, which took place in 1607 by concession of Francesco Maria II della Rovere, last Duke of Urbino. The palio takes its name from the unique race of frogs in a wheelbarrow. There are 7 districts of the city: Cà Lagostina, Calpino, La Pieve, La Torre, San Lazzaro, San Silvestro and Santa Barbara. Before the actual competition, the historical parade of more than three hundred people in Renaissance costumes parades along the streets of the town.
