Chariot race - Nativity of Mary

The chariot race takes place every year in Scheggia, on the occasion of the feast of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary. It is a chariot race between two districts of the country: the Borgo, which represents the suburbs, and the Piazza, which represents the center of Scheggia. Each district is characterized by a coat of arms, colors and symbols. The race takes place after Holy Mass and is awaited with trepidation by all the inhabitants. The chariot who cuts the finish line first wins the race receiving a brass chariot as a prize. The party continues until late at night in both districts. It takes place on September 8th.
