Village of Miniera

The village of Miniera was born and developed with the sulfur mine. The Florentine family of Masi, from which the homonymous historical nucleus of Ca 'de Masi takes its name, implements the extraction practice of sulfur in the Valle del Fanante with the Marazzana mine connected, later, with the Perticara mine. In the course of the 1800s the mineral and its 15 calcarones, become the center of sulfifera production of the zone. The growth of the mining industry and the needs of the population in continuous demographic growth generated both in Perticara and in Miniera an unprecedented social organization for the surrounding territory, with a multiplicity of services in favor of the citizens and many gathering places for the numerous families residents. Today the visit of the village is the natural continuation of the visit to Sulphur - Historical Mining Museum of Perticara, with a view to the enhancement and rediscovery of the territory, traces of the mining history of these places.
