Oratory of San Sebastiano

Oratory of San Sebastiano
The church of the congregation of the Battuti Bianchi, built between 1496 and 1502 on a project by Pace Bombace, although unfinished in the roof, is an example of Renaissance architecture with a Brunelleschi and Albertian style. The refined quality of the perspective solutions has led to the hypothesis of the intervention in the design of Melozzo degli Ambrogi, which would explain the stylistic contribution of the architecture, in particular of Rome and Urbino. The oratory has a main body with a Greek cross and an atrium surmounted by a dome, with a brick exterior. Along the inside walls, the finely worked terracotta cornices participate in the game of perspective equilibria of the building. The Oratory, deconsecrated, completely restored between 1978 and 1982, is now the venue for exhibitions.
