Basilica of San Rufillo
The Church is named after San Rufillo, the first Bishop of the Diocese of Forlimpopoli, who lived in the IV century AD and patron of the city. The most ancient building phase of the Church can be dated to a very wide time span from the 6th to the 8th-9th centuries AD The building was built immediately outside the city wall which was connected by an entrance called " Porta di San Rufillo ", no longer visible today. The church, originally, was a building with three naves bounded by two rows of pillars, probably with a quadrangular section, and with a large curved apse inside and polygonal on the outer side.
