Polo Museum Santa Maria Extra Muros

The Museum Center is built inside the splendid church of Santa Maria dei Servi, to be considered without any doubt the most important of Sant'Angelo in Vado, so much to be proclaimed a National Monument. Magnificent example of late Romanesque style exemplified in the masterful façade overlooking the Metauro river, over the centuries it has been enriched with important works of art. The visitor is welcomed by many seventeenth-century Baroque altars. Located at one of the historic entrances of the city it was originally located outside the village and has been remodeled over the centuries so that inside it can be admired several overlapping styles. Inside you can admire works by the Zuccari brothers, famous Vadesi Mannerist painters; Raffaellino del Colle, the last pupil of Raphael; Francesco Mancini another local painter who actively collaborated with the order of the Servants of Mary who founded the monastic complex shortly after their arrival at the end of the fourteenth century. In the archaeological section you can see finds that document the importance of the ancient Tifernum Mataurense as the Lapidarium testimony on the city's stone and marble; and a number of commonly used objects such as ceramics, metal objects and tools of various kinds from the excavations of recent years.
