Medieval village of Preggio

Ancient village at 638 m. height surrounded by rich vegetation and woods that make it a holiday resort for those who love a pristine natural environment and the quiet of the Umbrian hill.

The Rocca di Preggio, due to its dominant position, was considered one of the most important in the Perugino area and the Upper Tiber valley. Already existed in 917, the year in which the Emperor Berengario I confirmed the lordship of Preggio to the marquis Uguccione II dei Bourbon. In addition to the remains of the fortress, there is the church of SSTrinità in San Francesco (1223) which houses a golden silver reliquary which houses a "Holy Thorn" on Easter Tuesday and the church of the Madonna delle Grazie (1400) that it contains a delightful Renaissance style altar and a fresco attributed to Pinturicchio. From Preggio you can continue to Lake Trasimeno, which you can discover from the Col di Campana Pine Forest in a setting of evocative beauty.

In addition to its environmental beauties, Preggio is also known for the "Preggio Music Festival", a prestigious appointment with sacred music, chamber music and opera, organized in July and August by the "Amici della Musica" association "in collaboration with the parish SS Trinità di Preggio and now in its XXIX edition. Other important initiatives that welcome hundreds of visitors every year are the "Chestnut Festival" and "Preggio nel tempo" organized by Pro-loco Preggio.
